Grant Ross General ManagerGrant Ross

General Manager

Originally from Scotland, Grant has worked for distinguished hotels and restaurants throughout the United Kingdom and the United States.  He even owned his own hotel near St. Andrews before moving to Bucks County.  As our General Manager of all three restaurants, Grant has been with us since the renovation of the Black Bass, and is superb in his ability to ensure that each guest has a memorable experience. Known for his immense knowledge of local history, there are certain to be storied tales of the Golden Pheasant’s history whenever he is nearby. Grant is excited for the new challenge of making the third restaurant in our hospitality group a success.

chef David KaneDavid Kane

Executive Chef

Bucks County native Executive Chef Dave realized that he wanted to become a chef at sixteen.  While working as a busboy, he became keenly aware that he was “on the wrong side of the line.”  Dave soon launched his culinary career working in notable restaurants in Maine.  Returning to our region, he worked in top Philadelphia restaurants including Le Bec Fin, where he fell in love with French cuisine.  Chef Dave is greatly inspired by the abundance of local produce available in Upper Bucks County and writes his menus seasonally to take advantage of each season’s riches.  It seems appropriate that he now works in an ideal spot to enjoy his love of hiking and fishing.

Julia ShiptonJulia Shipton

Operations Manager

Julia began working for the Thompson family restaurants at age sixteen. Throughout high school and college she worked multiple positions at the Black Bass Hotel hostessing, serving, and bartending.  After graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management, she became an Assistant Manager at the Black Bass.  When we added the Golden Pheasant Inn to our line of restaurants, Julia was promoted and named Operations Manager.  Julia thoroughly enjoyed the process of reopening the Pheasant, especially meeting and getting to know the clientele.  She delights in the continued opportunity of working in such a beautiful scenic setting, with our amazing team and guests.

Phyllis Lownes InnkeeperPhyllis Lownes

Innkeeper

Phyllis has lived and raised a family in this area her entire life. She has worked at all of the Thompson family hospitality properties, including the Black Bass Hotel when restorations were just beginning, the Lumberville General Store, and now the Golden Pheasant Inn.  Phyllis is excited to be back interacting directly with the hotel guests. She enjoys whipping up breakfast and greeting guests every morning and delights in learning about the stories that brought them to the Pheasant. When she is not working as our Innkeeper, she enjoys spending time with her grandkids, or you may spot her outdoors walking or biking along the canal towpath.

Allison Gilbert

Pastry Chef Allison is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, where she received her degree in Baking and Pastry. Dedicated to her art form, she has developed quite a remarkable reputation in the area for her exquisite desserts and breads.  Her new decadent creations for the Golden Pheasant Inn will leave customers speechless, especially her luscious house-made ice creams and the Golden Pheasant Inn Peccable Signature dessert.  Allison is the dedicated leader of our pastry team and is excited to create for the third restaurant in the Thompson hospitality group.

Kevin Teeling Bar ManagerKevin Teeling

Bar Manager

Kevin helped up open our sister-restaurant, the Black Bass over a decade ago. Later, he moved to join the previous owners of the Golden Pheasant. As fate would have it, when the Pheasant closed down, Kevin re-joined us at the Bass. In turn, when we purchased and re-opened the Golden Pheasant, Kevin reclaimed his post and is once again warmly welcoming customers from both establishments.  Needless to say, Kevin has quite a following. When he is not whipping up his amazing cocktails, he enjoys quiet time in LBI with his wife Karin.
